Jones Grill

211 E. New Bern Road, Kinston, North Carolina 28504

Driving through Kinston recently I noticed the newly opened Jones Grill a week or so ago. A little online research brought me to their Facebook page where I was able to find images of their menu. I immediately became intrigued by something they called the Little E's Burger -- a "hamburger with bacon mixed into the burger meat with bacon added on top." Needless to say, I paid these guys a visit as soon as I could.

I ordered my burger with cheese, chili, mustard and onion. I did not realize the extra toppings they have available and will definitely add banana peppers on my next visit. And you can be sure there will be many more visits. The Little E was amazing! Definitely the best burger available in Kinston and highly recommended especially if you like bacon burgers. You can choose toppings such as lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, jalapenos, pickles and more for your burger.

I also tried something they call Bacon Hot Tots. These were fantastic as well. Basically it is a tater tot stuffed into a jalapeno then wrapped in bacon and fried. It is topped off with melted cheese and a side of ranch dressing for dipping. Definitely a step up from the traditional side of fries, though Jones Grill offers those as well.

Other menu options include hot dogs, traditional burgers, chicken tenders, a variety of sandwiches, and a full breakfast menu including pancakes and omelets served all day. The decor inside the grill is simple with just table and chairs and mostly plain walls. They are open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8:00 a.m. until 3 p.m..

Warren's Hot Dogs

1938 N Memorial Drive, Greenville, NC 27834

Welcome to my first post on Down East Dining. I thought I would start off with a simple pleasure... one of the best hot dog houses ever! Warren's has been in business in Greenville for decades and in its current location for most of those years. Nestled on the outskirts of the city, you have to venture out towards Bethel when the yearning for their tasty white chili strikes you, but it is a journey well worth the travel time.

If you are less adventurous, you can always opt for the less spicy, more traditional red chili, but it is definitely the peppery white sauce that makes Warren's stand out. You can also get pizza and subs at Warren's and they do a fine job on those as well, however, it is the hot dogs that are their true claim to fame. Similar to the dogs found at Bill's Hot Dogs in Washington, Warren's is a must visit eatery when in Greenville.
